About find and replace

This free find and replace tool works on text of any size, entirely in your browser. Turn on regex mode to use full JavaScript regular expressions — character classes, quantifiers, anchors, lookarounds — and reference capture groups in the replacement as $1, $2 and so on. With regex mode off, your search is treated literally, so hunting for $1.00 or a.b finds exactly that instead of being interpreted as a pattern. The match count updates as you type, and the first few matches are listed with what each capture group caught, so you can confirm a pattern is doing what you think before you commit to the replacement.
